OLAG Graduate, Blessing Aduko, Shines at the University of Notre Dame.
Blessing Aduko Spotlight
Blessing is a recent Freshman at the University of Notre Dame which was her first choice and dream school. Having applied to sixteen schools, the University of Notre Dame was the first school to offer her admission on a full ride scholarship. She arrived on campus on the 17th of August and resides in Mcglinn Hall, “The Shamrocks”.
Although Blessing is only a freshman, she is actively involved in volunteering at events on and off campus. These include assisting in the Dujari House for the aged at Holy Cross Village and assisting in the checking in of donors during blood donation events. She is also a member of WVFI DJ’s who host various radio shows. She is looking to start her own show called, “10 pm somewhere”. As a catholic, Blessing makes it a point to visit the grotto at least three times in a week for personal prayer time. When Blessing is not engaging with extracurricular activities and classes, she likes to take a walk around the St. Joseph Lake as a way to relax and clear her thoughts.
As the former School Prefect of the Student Body at OLAG, Blessing is proud to say that the experience not only made her a mature thinker, but helped her gain a humbling perspective on human interactions, connections and leaderships as a whole. This position has enlightened her and made her more comfortable with taking initiatives, and growing with everyone around her. OLAG has really shaped her life. It gave her opportunities, challenges to help her grow and develop, a supportive community and some of her best friends. “OLAG has taught me the world is full of opportunities, however it’s your effort that decides whether you recognize them or not”.
While in OLAG Blessing says she always knew OLAG was a school of opportunities. Realizing this blessing, she worked really hard. “I knew OLAG was God’s gift to me to help me reach for the stars and beyond”. With all the efforts she put in, Blessing was able to make it into the University of Notre Dame. Blessing believes the principles and sense of community OLAG has instilled in her will continue to shape and influence the relationships with those around her .
