Emmanuel Ogyem Boakye

“Because of your generosity, I leave not only inspired but commissioned, carrying hope back to my people and determined to build for the future.”

Emmanuel Ogyem Boakye grew up in Mamponteng, Ghana at a time when there was no accessible high school. After attending high school and college in other communities, he returned to his home and was hired as the first librarian at OLAG.

Being surrounded by so many books, the passion for learning of the students and the commitment of Warren and Mary Lynn Staley inspired him to reach for continued higher education.

Emmanuel is now a seasoned investment banking and financial markets expert with extensive experience in sovereign finance, debt restructuring, and economic policy development. As an MIT Sloan Fellow (class of 2025) he brings a wealth of global financial insights and strategic expertise to Ghana's financial landscape.

Reflecting on his experience as a panel member for the SHINE ON Minneapolis Breakfast, Emmanuel says, "...on behalf of my forefathers and foremothers - who for centuries lifted prayers for a better future - I want to say thank you on their behalf, for your generosity is an answer to our century old prayers.

What you see as a school, we see as a sacred temple - a holy ground where dreams take root and visions are born that will continue to shape our continent and generations till eternity, surely I know uncle Kofi Annan will be so proud of OLAG from heaven."
