The Cabrillo Pavilion in Santa Barbara, CA was filled with inspiration on January 15 for the SHINE ON Santa Barbara Breakfast!

It was great to connect with our community in California and continue to share the importance of our mission at OLAG. Guests enjoyed conversation with new and long-time friends, breakfast, and an impactful panel discussion on the importance of investing in education in Africa, featuring Frederica Aboagye, Jeff Staley, and Chris Toomey. About the Panelists

Jeff Staley has spent 30 years in the financial industry across investment banking, principal investing, and entrepreneurship. He joined Achieve in 2005, helping build an industry-leading digital finance business. Jeff serves as a board member, investor, and advisor, and supports community organizations focused on poverty alleviation, education, health, and youth development. His family’s experiences in Ghana and at OLAG have deeply shaped their commitment.

Chris Toomey is President of Glenair Inc., where he leads with a customer-first mindset rooted in trust, collaboration, and shared success. Known for his approachable, principle-driven leadership, Chris is a longtime supporter of Rise & Shine and a champion of education. He has helped grow the Robotics program at OLAG and is dedicated to fostering curiosity, integrity, and community.

Frederica (Rica) Aboagye is an OLAG graduate studying Computer Science and Mathematical Economics at Pitzer College. She has gained industry experience at Microsoft and will return as a Software Engineering Intern in summer 2026. At Pitzer, Rica is a student leader and co-founder of the college’s first technology club, focused on building inclusive technical communities.
